Inside the Experience
KIKOS PLACE SEAFOOD, located at the bustling corner of Hazard Center Drive and Mission Center Road in San Diego, stands out as a gem in the city's vibrant Mexican seafood scene. This food truck brings together the essence of fresh, authentic mariscos with a touch of home-style care and warmth that instantly makes you feel welcomed.
The highlight of KIKOS PLACE SEAFOOD is undoubtedly their fish tacos—generous in portion, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped in fresh tortillas that hold just the right crunch. Accompanying these are their freshly made tortilla chips, celebrated by many for their irresistible crunch and salty goodness. These simple but masterful touches make every bite a delight.
What truly elevates the experience here is the thoughtful hospitality. Patrons often mention the complimentary seafood consomme, a rich, spice-filled broth that not only soothes but prepares the palate for the main dishes. This small gesture speaks volumes about their commitment to quality service, from attentive staff who clean your table promptly to friendly encounters that add a personal touch to your meal.
Despite being a humble food truck, KIKOS PLACE SEAFOOD consistently delivers freshness and flavor that rivals many sit-down restaurants. The freshness of the seafood is evident in every bite, and the quick, efficient service helps keep waiting times short, even during busy hours. While some have remarked on pricing, the consensus points to a satisfying balance of value and taste.
Having sampled their offerings, I can attest that KIKOS PLACE SEAFOOD captures the pinnacle of San Diego’s mariscos culture—fresh seafood, generous portions, and genuine hospitality. Whether you are a local or just passing through, this spot promises a memorable, flavorful dive into Mexican seafood that keeps customers coming back time and again.
“ I received great customer service from the guy that took my order. I got a free little soup and they cleaned my table before I was served. Will come again. ”
“ I never take the time to write reviews but I have to admit I was very surprised with the quality and quantity of the food here! This is by far the best mariscos food truck I’ve had in San Diego in YEARS! The prices are not crazy like other places are, the food is amazing and fresh, the service was great and quick. I will be returning often. ”
“ This is it. The pinnacle of Mexican food truck experience. Good portions. Delicious food. Auntie in the truck also randomly handed out seafood consomme, which were fuuuuuulll of spices and flavor. Amazing. ”
“ This is a taco truck with amazing food and great service. I heard this place gets super crowded so we went at 10am on Tuesday. There was no wait and we parked behind the taco truck. While we waited for our food, the cashier gave us soup. It was great. We ordered the fish taco plate. It came with fresh tortilla chips that were out of this world. So crunchy and salty and delicious. The fish tacos were so soft and crunchy at the same time. I loved the orange and green sauces. The tortilla was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed every bite. ”
“ Glad I tried it, but not worth the hype. Price I’m not the only one bothered by the price, judging by other reviews. For the size of the tacos, it’s expensive. I’ve seen recent pictures of the menu and the prices just keep creeping up. Atmosphere It’s a food truck on the side of the road. They have 3 tables and a tiny but of shade. Service They confused my order a bit, but otherwise it’s good. Food The Saturday special - shrimp and New York steak taco with cheese and bacon and avocado was very good. The fried shrimp taco was also decent. The fish ceviche seemed fresh. I wasn’t a fan of their fish tacos. Not much fish and pretty pricey. Don Bravo in La Jolla still makes the best fish tacos. Also thought that their tortillas in general didn’t taste that good. Would I recommend? Sure, it’s popular for a reason. Will I return? No, I don’t have a desire. ”
